Environmental Volunteers Needed!

Hatchery and Eco-Tour Guide: Provide onsite instructional eco-tours at the River Heritage Centre, Allco Fish Hatchery and Allco Park to ages 3y – 13y. These tours will include the salmon lifecycle, salmon fry release, salmon dissection and forest ecology using resources made available.Time Commitment:

  •  Approximately 15-20 hours per month between March–June 2018
  •  Approximately 10-15 hours per month October – December 2018
  •  (total of 90-125 hours).

 

At the Alouette River Management Society, we’re on a mission to proactively protect and improve the Alouette Watershed and surrounding areas by creating a healthy environment which connects parks, trail systems, public centres and waterways and volunteers are essential to helping us deliver on that mission.
By volunteering, you can:

Accountability:

  • Volunteers will be responsible to the Executive Director.
  • Criminal records check working with vulnerable minors will need to be completed for all successful volunteers.

  • Further advance ARMS’ mission of raising public awareness about the Alouette Watershed, salmon and other wildlife. The importance of increasing needed habitat through the building of a fish ladder on the Alouette Dam and other critical environmental issues to the local area.
  • Gain a letter of recommendation, reference on LinkedIn and credit on any materials produced and recognition in the ARMS newsletter which goes out to over 300 individuals and groups
