Eco Tip Tuesday: Let the Leaves Lie for B.C.’s P Eco Tip Tuesday: Let the Leaves Lie for B.C.’s Pollinators!
This fall, skip the rake and give nature a helping hand. When leaves blanket your yard, they create cozy, protective habitats for pollinators like native bees, butterflies, and beetles to overwinter safely. 🍂🐛 Those crunchy layers also enrich the soil and support the ecosystem right in your backyard!

So before you tidy up, remember, every leaf you leave helps support B.C.’s biodiversity. 🌿
Those iconic twin peaks glow like gold at sunset, Those iconic twin peaks glow like gold at sunset, giving Mount Blanshard its nickname “Golden Ears.” 💛
Golden Ears Provincial Park isn't just breathtaking, it is where the headwaters of the Alouette River system are located, specifically on the southwest slope of Mount Robie Reid. 💧Snowmelt and rainfall from these peaks feed the creeks and streams that flow into Alouette Reservoir and River, supporting salmon, beavers, and countless other species 💙

A little throwback this Thursday! Before the cons A little throwback this Thursday!
Before the construction of the Alouette Dam in 1926, Alouette Lake was significantly smaller than the expansive reservoir we see today. Originally, the lake was approximately 2 kilometers in length and much shallower. The dam raised the water level by about 15 meters (50 feet), transforming the lake into a 16 kilometer long reservoir. The primary purpose of the dam was to divert water from the Alouette River to the Stave River watershed for hydroelectric power generation. This diversion was achieved through a 1 kilometer long tunnel beneath Mount Crickmer, which channels water from Alouette Lake to the Stave Lake Reservoir, still in operation today.
