Throwback Thursday: Did you know the Alouette Rive Throwback Thursday: Did you know the Alouette River once supported thriving Sockeye runs before the dam was built in 1926? Thanks to years of research and restoration efforts, we’re now seeing hope for their return. Every step back in time reminds us how far we’ve come and how much potential the Alouette still holds.
📸This photo captures a historic moment, the first Sockeye Salmon to return to the Alouette system and be successfully released into the Alouette Reservoir.
Let’s keep the momentum going, support the Salmon Strong: Sink or Swim Campaign and help us write the next chapter of this story.

Winterizing your Mason Bees: Helping our tiny poll Winterizing your Mason Bees: Helping our tiny pollinators rest easy 🐝
As the weather cools, it’s time to tuck your mason bees in for winter! These gentle native pollinators spend the cold months in their cocoons, waiting for spring warmth to return.
To help them thrive next season:
- Gather your bee houses once activity stops.
- Carefully remove and clean the nesting tubes or trays to prevent mold and parasites.
- Store cocoons in a breathable container in a cool, dry place, like an unheated garage or fridge (around 2–4°C).

Reinstall clean nesting materials in early spring when blossoms begin to bloom. 🌸
By giving your mason bees a safe winter rest, you’re ensuring a healthy population ready to pollinate your garden and native plants next year! 🌿
