Winterizing your Mason Bees: Helping our tiny poll Winterizing your Mason Bees: Helping our tiny pollinators rest easy ๐Ÿ
As the weather cools, itโ€™s time to tuck your mason bees in for winter! These gentle native pollinators spend the cold months in their cocoons, waiting for spring warmth to return.
To help them thrive next season:
- Gather your bee houses once activity stops.
- Carefully remove and clean the nesting tubes or trays to prevent mold and parasites.
- Store cocoons in a breathable container in a cool, dry place, like an unheated garage or fridge (around 2โ€“4ยฐC).

Reinstall clean nesting materials in early spring when blossoms begin to bloom. ๐ŸŒธ
By giving your mason bees a safe winter rest, youโ€™re ensuring a healthy population ready to pollinate your garden and native plants next year! ๐ŸŒฟ

Guests also took part in an engaging presentation by the Northern Spotted Owl Breeding Program, where they learned about efforts to protect this endangered species and were even introduced to Small Eyes, one of the programโ€™s ambassador owls! ๐Ÿฆ‰
