Meet the ARMS Team
The Alouette River Management Society (ARMS) is driven by an incredible group of individuals that share a passion for the conservation, restoration and enhancement of the Alouette River and the Pacific Salmon that call it home.
Greta Borick-Cunningham
Executive Director
Greta started at ARMS as acting Executive Director in March 2012 and then went to be the Executive Director in 2013. Greta has a passionate love of the environment including water conservation issues, protection and enhancement of salmon species, and raising public awareness around threats to our native BC ecosystems. Greta’s background includes a Masters in Education, a Diploma in Sustainable Resource Management, and 20 years of experience in management and administration. Greta has lived and worked around the world in Japan, Canada, and Australia. In Greta’s downtime, you’ll find her pottering around in her veggie garden, volunteering for a local watershed group in Vancouver, and learning how to get more art in her life.
Sophie Sparrow
Communications & Engagement Manager
Sophie has worked at ARMS since March 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from the University of the Fraser Valley, with a minor in Communications. Over the course of her degree she developed a passion for water and the processes occurring in a watershed that affect a rivers water geochemistry. Sophie was a part of a global project called the “Global Rivers Observatory”, based out of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, where a team of researchers collect water samples from different locations around the world. Sophie attended Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution looking at the seasonal variation of water geochemistry in BC’s Fraser River Basin. She enjoys spending time outside exploring new adventures with her family including fishing, hiking and camping.
Kristen Munk
Watershed Project Manager
Kristen began working with ARMS in early 2024. Born in a small town outside of Vancouver, Kristen grew up exploring the outdoors, which developed into a deep passion for the Pacific Northwest and the wildlife that call it home. Before studying Biology and Environmental Science at university, she backpacked through Southeast Asia learning about other cultures and environments. Once she returned home, she wanted to share her passion for environmental conservation through advocacy her passion for ecological restoration and indigenous reconciliation.
Dan Mikolay
Environmental Educator
We are excited to announce that Dan Mikolay will be working as ARMS Environmental Educator as of February 2026! Dan has been working as the Eco-Camp Supervisor for ARMS since 2017. Dan also works as the WildsafeBC Coordinator for Maple Ridge and is the Environmental Educator for Ridge Meadows Recycling Society. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ohio University, with extensive experience conducting over 6000 workshops in the past 18 years. Dan adds fun and engaging interactions to all of his sessions.
Sara Janisse
Education & Engagement Assistant
Sara is joining ARMS for the summer season as the Education and Engagement Assistant. She is currently finishing a Masters of Forestry Degree in Environmental and Wildlife Conservation, and is incredibly passionate about protecting and learning about wildlife. Sara has experience working in summer camps, outdoor and wildlife education, and loves to find ways to share knowledge through games and hands on activities. She has previously lived in Ontario and Alberta, and is now very excited to explore the local area through her favourite pastimes: painting, hiking and camping.
Noah Augustine
Summer Day Camp Leader
Noah is joining ARMS for the summer season as a Summer Day Camp Leader. He is a 3rd year student at the University of British Columbia and aims to complete a Bachelors of French Language and Cultures, with a minor in Journalism. Noah loves his guitar, painting, and spending time outdoors. He has experience volunteering with children and youth in the MR/PM community, and he can’t wait to inspire and teach again this summer after coming home from an exchange year in France.
Isabella Triplett
Summer Day Camp Leader
Izzy is an Eco-Camp Leader with ARMS this summer. This fall, she will begin her first year at Douglas College, where she plans to pursue a career in elementary education. Having played soccer for many years, Izzy values teamwork, leadership, and building confidence in others. She is excited to be part of the ARMS team this summer, where she looks forward to inspiring young campers through hands-on outdoor learning while gaining valuable experience in environmental education.
Oakley
Wellness Officer
Oakley is responsible for making people smile, sleeping in the office, fetching the ball and eating treats. She loves to go in the field to explore nature, bird watch and sniff new scents. Oakley’s goal is to find the perfect stick to chew!
