Teen Eco-Camp

Join the Aloutte River Management Society’s Environmental Action Teen Camp for an unforgettable experience. This unique camp offers a wide range of activities, including hands-on conservation projects, educational workshops on sustainability, outdoor adventures, and opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills while making a positive impact on the environment. This immersive experience provides a platform for teens to learn, grow, and contribute to important environmental cause.

What does a Teen Day Camp look like at ARMS? Here is an example schedule:

  • 9:30am – Arrival and welcome, campers meet their counsellor for the day
  • 10:00am – Group games and icebreakers
  • 10:30am – Activity #1:
  • 11:45am – Activity #2:
  • 12:30pm – Lunch at Rivers Heritage Centre
  • 1:30pm – Activity #3:
  • 2:30pm – Activity #4:
  • 2:50pm – Closing activities
  • 3:00pm – Campers are being picked up

Teen Summer Day Camp Details:

Time: 9:30am-3:00pm

Cost: $50.00 per day

Location: Geoff Clayton Rivers Heritage Centre, 24959 Alouette Road, Maple Ridge

Age Range: 10-14 years old

Completion of all three days receives a environmental engagement certificate.

Day 1: Monday, August 12th

On Monday, the day camp will be focusing on fish and water. We will go over a variety of topics and have some engaging activities like:

  • How to survey the health of a stream
  • How to catch and identify invertebrates
  • Dissect an adult salmon
  • How to identify the pacific salmon that use the Alouette River
  • What types of jobs can be found in relation to fish and water
  • A riparian fish art craft

Day 2: Tuesday, August 13th

On Tuesday, the day camp will be focusing on biodiversity. We will go over a variety of topics and have some engaging activities like:

  • Introduction to plant ID
  • Learning about herbalism
  • How to identify a native vs. invasive plant
  • Types of jobs
  • Native plant walk
  • Introduction to medicinal plants
  • Engage in a biodiversity survey

Day 3: Wednesday, August 14th

On Wednesday, the day camp will be focusing on wildlife and fauna. We will go over a variety of topics and have some engaging activities like:

  • Wildlife identification
  • Bird box building
  • Learning about importance of bees
  • Native plant tour
  • How to plant native plants
  • Types of jobs
