Purpose

Students participate in hands-on habitat enhancement and protection projects near their school and throughout Maple Ridge. Students are encouraged to adopt a nearby stream or green space and participate in yearlong activities. Activities offered this year include:

  1. Water quality monitoring
  2. Stream clean-ups
  3. Storm drain marking
  4. Planting new habitats
  5. Constructing and establishing roosting and nesting boxes for wildlife
  6. Fish releases
  7. Invasive plant removal
  8. Aquatic insect monitoring

 

ARMS Role

  • Provide guidance, training and technical support for teachers and students.
  • Provide materials and native plants for habitat restoration projects.
  • Profile projects in the local media and ARMS newsletter and website.
