Purpose
Students participate in hands-on habitat enhancement and protection projects near their school and throughout Maple Ridge. Students are encouraged to adopt a nearby stream or green space and participate in yearlong activities. Activities offered this year include:
- Water quality monitoring
- Stream clean-ups
- Storm drain marking
- Planting new habitats
- Constructing and establishing roosting and nesting boxes for wildlife
- Fish releases
- Invasive plant removal
- Aquatic insect monitoring
ARMS Role
- Provide guidance, training and technical support for teachers and students.
- Provide materials and native plants for habitat restoration projects.
- Profile projects in the local media and ARMS newsletter and website.
